Matching Color between iView and Phase One
In my work flow, I usually open the images first in iView MediaPro, do sorting, deleting, and renaming, and then move on to PhaseOne. I get used to the way they look in iView, and it seems that they always look different in PhaseOne.
I usually like the way they look in iView better--they seem to be brighter and have a little more contrast. So then I have to do work in PhaseOne to get them to look like they already look in iView. Can anyone explain the difference? Which one is "right", or is there such a thing?
I'm using a Canon 20D, iView 3.1.3, Capture One PRO 3.7.7, on a Mac Book Pro (Intel) with OS X, 10.4.10.
My monitor is calibrated using a MonacoOPTIX XR.

iView is actually showing the jpeg that is embedded in your Canon Raw file. It is a lower resolution jpeg that your camera embeds in the file and processes with however you camera is set to process jpegs at the time. The only way to really get them to look just like they do there really is using Canon's DPP. 0 -
Dave,
Thanks very much for the reply. This would make sense, except that I set my Canon 20D to make RAW files only. With the Canon 10D, the RAW files & JPEG's were together in one file, and as I recall, you couldn't turn off the JPEG option, but with the Canon 20D you can. The 20D makes separate JPEG files, and I always turn that off, since I don't want to deal with another set of files.
