Profile question
I have to admit that I'm not terribly proficient with profiling, but I am having a small problem with C1. When I process my images the WB looks off, but when I export it looks different, it looks normal at that point.
I also notice that in PS I have to hit ctrl y to get the correct monitor profile selected, after which the colour/WB looks normal.
My question is, is there a way to set the profile with something analogous to what Ctrl Y does in PS in C1?
Also, on an unrelated note, is there anything equivalent to auto leveling in C1? I'm coming from Bibble, and I notice that due to the autoleveling, the exposure looks much different in C1 at times. That being said, C1 has far superior sharpening and I can pull out far more detail in my files.

Hi Greg,
Welcome to the forum. A few questions, some answers:
Auto Levels is available in CO4 on the Exposure tools tab. You find the Level section and in the title bar of that section an 'A'. Click on it and you're there.
Ctrl+Y in Photoshop is a soft proof option (you first define the profile you want to soft proof against). This is available in CO3.x Pro too and can be expected in CO4 Pro when it comes available (no promise on my behalf). The current CO4 is an upgrade to CO3.x LE and does not have this feature (as its predecessor).
So far the facts. Now fiction:
The Ctrl+Y behavior you described scares me, it should not work like that (changing colour/WB). It sounds like your color management needs to be setup properly first and that a particular function in PS safes the day. I could be mistaken.0 -
Greg, in Photoshop, check that View > Proof Setup is set to Monitor RGB, not CMYK. If it was set to CMYK then that may explain why your white balance appearance seems to change dramatically when you Proof Colors (Ctrl+Y). Ctrl+Y merely uses whatever you have set in View>Proof Setup.
And yes, you must still properly calibrate your monitor.

Alright, I moved the monitor profile out of the regular profile folder, and colours are now accurate. That must have been causing the issue.
I know I still have to calibrate, but the results are almost identical when printed to what I see on my screen, so I'll pass on that for a bit. 😉0
