Can 4.5 Pro Windows Run on a Mac?
I have a MacBook Pro and 1DsIII, currently running C1 Pro 4.5 Pro tethered. Only problem is how slow Mac USB 2.0 is.
I installed a Windows partition and MacDrive 7. With this setup and Canon Software I'm able to get very fast RAW captures shooting on the Windows side while captures go to a folder on the Mac side for storage and editing.
If I installed C1 4.5 Pro for Windows would it work the same way? And would that cost me an installation in my license?
thanks - John

Modern Macs are just PCs in fancy clothing, same processors, same chipsets, same video cards, same hard drives. So Windows running on a Mac just looks like Windows to any software running there.
I had the preview of 3.7 Pro installed in both Mac OS X and Windows XP on my first-gen Macbook black. It was too slow to use in practice (note: I consider everything on notebook computers to be too slow), but it did run without any problems. I've not tried any newer version, but as I said above I have faith it'll be fine.
As for the license. I'm sure what ever computer information Phase One hashes together to uniquely identify one machine from the next will be different when booted from Mac OS to Windows, so you'll have to use up two activations to have it in both OSes even if they are on the same machine.0 -
John, as Christopher explained, CO 4.5.1 Pro on the Windows partition (I assume you work with Boot Camp) and MacDrive 7 should work tethered like the Canon software does. Installation will count as an extra activation.
Keep us posted about your experiences if you decide to go further that way. Thanks.0
