Show highlight and shadow clipping in histogramm
Hello
I'm trying out C1 and have a question. Is it possible to show highlight and shadow clipping in the histogramm like in Lightroom?
If parts in Image going to plain white or black the little arrow in Lightrooms histogramm warns me. I know there is a button to show exposure warning in image, but maybe it's better to get the warning in the histogramm.
thanks for help

No there isn't.
I suppose it's a matter of what you are used to. When I've tried LR I have not found it easy to know how to understand what I am seeing in the highlight and shadow indicator in the histogram, nor how to make the adjustments necessary to deal with them. I actually prefer what I see in Capture One, because I can see where in the image highlights or shadows are clipped, and decide whether I care. (I might, for instance, be happy enough for some dark areas of the image to be almost black, depending on the subject matter.)

Hmmm...
I'm more or less with Ian. I am a heavy user of Lr as well as Capture One (no familiarity issues with either software), but I realise that I never refer to the highlight and shadow clipping indicators in the histogram in Lr:
I can see both kinds of clipping in the image.
Enrico, by all means raise a support case with Phase One to ask for this addition.0 -
Hello and thanks 4 reply.
Maybe i don't need the feature after longer use, but atm i really miss it, because i hadn't to be care about until the indicators were warning.0 -
Thinking about it, I am with Ian3 and Keith.
I am judging the (amount of) clipping by looking at the histogram, seeing the clipping rising and decreasing while making changes. In some rare cases I need to look up the clipping areas by using CO's area highlighting. Whether I allow clipping or not, and how much clipping I accept, depends on the image and the look I'm going for. Because photography is about the look of the image, not about the look of the histogram. For me, there is no need for an extra indicator. I know the clipping indicator from LR and others, but I never found it helpful.

Me too. You don't need the small "magic" clipping triangles. But you really need some customizable (!) tools like e.g. a large gradation curve, a large and accurate rgb histogramm and so on, and that's what LR doesn't offers, all the tools are too small and not customizable and not floating. I can't see details with those tools, it's build for philatelists (stamp-collectors) 😊
