Force preview rebuild & layered TIFs
When editing a TIF file outside C1 that's inside a folder managed by C1, C1 often doesn't rebuild the preview you see in C1. Is there a way to force C1 to rebuild the image preview?
Repro case (in 7.1.6):
- process an image to a .TIF in the Capture folder. The TIF shows up in the folder, as it should.
- click on the .TIF in C1, let it render. Then open another image.
- open the .TIF in Photoshop and do something with it (say, paint a big red X on it)
- go back into C1 and reopen the .TIF
- the new edit probably won't show up. Change your magnification to something other than the original, and the edit show up, but disappears when returning to the original magnification (most of the time--I've had some times when it stays put).
Relatedly, I notice that 7.1.6 has quietly gained the ability to render layered TIFs! Since my workflow for architecture ends up using a lot of layered images, is this functionality reliable or is it better/faster/more stable to continue to save out a flattened TIF if one is ultimately exporting out JPGs and galleries using process recipes?

I don't recall ever having a problem with layered tifs.
But...
I do have the same preview issue. Try exporting from the tif and you won't see your changes either, its very dangerous. I have a support case open since Oct last year.
If you are opening tif files in another editor for re-touch then be very careful when exporting from CO as the changes may not be there, could be a bit of surprise to some customers if you don't catch it.
Here is a video I made to show support
