New Canon Camera

Hi - First question from newbie...I have just downloaded Phase One LE and will hopefully be purchasing a new Canon camera when it is announced in March...currently using a 10D
Will I be able to upgrade Phase One once it is capable of dealing with the new cameras RAW images.

    Do you know something that the rest of the world doesn't?
    Only rumours I'm afraid, and 90% of these have been wrong over the years, especially when it comes to Canon.
    They are very tight lipped. Wait until PMA and see what Canon announces.

    New Canon camera we are pretty quick to implement so yes to that question and if you buy capture one LE today you will have the next major version as well, with the PRO version you will have the next 2 major versions.

    As Canon has now released the specs on their new camera body, I'm wondering if the fact that the RAW files are 14 bit vs 12 bit will have any effect on how soon C1 Pro will be updated to handle these files?

    This isn't really the correct place to be discussing this. There are millions of Canon forums, e.g. DPR, Photography on the Net, etc. etc. where you will find every possible rumour imaginable! They are almost always wrong as Canon keeps info on new releases very close to their chest.
    FWIW, it seems very unlikely that there will be a 5D replacement this year as it has no competition. More likely a 1Ds MkIII.

    I know, I know, but since it was brought up here and someone seemed t be well informed I thought it was worth a question. The MKIII was even written up in Photo that I just received in the mail.

    Since Capture One's algorithms were developed initially for 16 Bit color of Phase One Digital Back RAWs, can't see where there would be any issues with 14 Bit Canon files.
    One thing Canon has been good about is the sharing of files and information.

    Does this mean we can expect C1 (I have v3.7) to work immediately on MkIII files?

    No, certainly do not expect this.
    The camera has to become available first, and files need to be obtained in
    in order to be implemented into a version of Capture One.
    This can require a few months time.
    4.0 will be written in a manner that allows a more efficient support of new camera files, and adds features and functions quite timely.
