MacBookPro Firewire depth
Greetings all,
Recently while using my MBP with a unsupported firewire cable with built-in FW repeater. I noticed that the cable didn't feel a secure as it does in my G5, so i got an exacto blade at shaved off about a 1/16 of a inch of the outer shield by the firewie connector. Now the FW cable goes deeper in the MBP, based on that I tried 5 other firewire cable shaved off 1/16 of a inch, just to see if the cables work. All work fine & I can clearly see on 4 of the 5 that they go in deeper in the MBP FW port.
It seems that my MBP 's FW ports a deeper than the FW ports on the G5 2.7ghz. Hopefully this little FW trick will improve my FW connectivity to my MBP on jobs. Now that the FW cable is fimly seated in the port.
Has anyone else noticed this on thier MBP or PowerBook ?
Brian
