No information about the new version 4
Hi,
When will this version be released ? They said it would the first quarter of 2007 for the LE version. However the site states that version 3.7.7. will be released in spring 2007. This cannot be true ?
Why are we not properly informed ? What is going on ?
I am eagerly awaiting to see if the UI has approved and if the program has more modern features. If not I might jump to Lightroom, if is works fast enough.
Please inform us all !!!!!!!

Remmelt,
Phase One provides information via the web site.
As you have found, All current information regarding 4.0 is posted on the main web page, lower right-side linked:
http://www.phaseone.com/Global/Campaign ... eOne4.aspx
This Link States:
Availability
Capture One 4 will be available in 2007. The LE version is ready in Spring 2007 and the PRO version in Autumn 2007. If you purchase Capture One now you get Capture One 4 as part of your purchase since Capture One LE includes 1 free upgrade and Capture One PRO includes 2 free upgrades. Capture One 4 LE will process Phase One digital back files and all PRO users will get Capture One 4 LE for FREE as soon as it is available.
4.0 has been demonstrated at Photokina and PhotoPlus - NY last Fall.
I think what impressed observers the most were in this order:
#1 - Speed - 180 P30 Previews building in 16 seconds [ MacBook Pro]
- P30 - 93 MB High Quality JPEG processed in 11 Seconds
- 4.0 will be At Least 300% Faster
#2 - Preview and Focus Display refresh near real-time with changes made
#3 - Multiple Previews onto Preview pane - as many as desired and with different color spaces
#4 - All Tools Floating for customizable interface
Every Capture One Owner will be entitled to version 4.0 UpGrade for Free.
This is because every version UpDate since the start, has been Free to Customers.
4.0 will be the first Chargeable Upgrade.
Purchases of LE - came with 1 Free Upgrade and PRO with 2 Free Upgrades.
Sincerely,
K C0 -
For those of us with chronic deactivation problems the new version cannot COME TOO SOON! 0 -
dlathem;
You mention "for everyone with chronic deactivation problems"... I to have been having this problem -
I wonder if uninstalling PRO 3.7.6 and and reinstalling a previous version would be a temporary fixe untill 4.0??0 -
I don't know if it will or not. But it is a moot issue for me because I have NO activations left and I have not had an answer to my support ticket for several days.
So, I would not want to go back to an earlier version for fear of having NO version at all.
I have new external storage that I need to be able to use before Christmas of 2007.0 -
Wait a minute — v4 was announced fall of 2006 and you're saying it's going to be fall of 2007 before it's released? What are you guys doing? Is this a government-funded project?

dlathem:
I have had to wait a few days some times for tech support to respond to my deactiviation case that has been open since November 2006. One time they didn't respond for several days - I sent another message asking them for status - they apologized because they missed my initial message. Phase One has been very good about giving me additional activations due to this issue.
I suggest you send them another message through your support case.
Have a great week!0 -
I guess I am one of the lucky ones. My version of C1 Pro just keeps ticking along with no problems.
I hope we don't get going on this "when is V4 coming" bandwagon. I am sure that they will release when it is ready and not before. I hope that they stick to their guns on this. I recall a couple of years ago (I think) when a version was released too soon and this forum was filled with nothing but problems.
I can only surmise but I would bet that Phase One is taking a hard long look at Lightroom and perhaps trying to build some additional functionality in based on it. If we wait for V4.x and then see just a cosmetic makeover with some increase in speed I will be disappointed. I highly doubt that this will be the case.
I will be giving them the benefit of the doubt and I hold out for great things from V4.0 -
I would be much more inclined to agree with that if they hadn't announced it last September...

I love the current version. Although control points would be nice, I am not moving to Lightroom. I cannot imagine the skin tones will be nearly as nice on any other RAW converter. Also, the speed of Capture One is one of its real strengths. It is blazing fast on my new nothing-fancy HP Core 2 Duo E6300. 0
