    Yes ,please !
I also badly need a clone and a heal brush
I work on portraiture and its a real pain not to be able to fix small things
....Lightroom 5 its now shipping and even though i consider Capture One to deliver better file quality .... i just cant export each single images to photoshop ☹️

is there any hope that you would soon release an update with those improvements?

    Many thanks

I agree with wanting to have a (portrait photography worthy) clone tool.

But don't jump to conclusions with LR's clone tool too early. It's actually very crude and cannot compare to Photoshop's brushable tool!

I would ask Phase One to keep sticking with real painted masking, like the gradient tool is. I can always use the brush tool and brush in and out from C1 gradients. How about trees, heads or buildings sticking through a horizon line?

Try that with LR gradients! Their tools are way more "tool parameter based" for a lack of a better description. So is their clone tool. Try brushing in subtle cloning with it. That won't work.

The downside of C1's brush and gradient tools is that they rely on the layer structure, which makes the system rather clunky and has no real benefits IMO.

So what's the best solution? Discuss.

I for one do not consider LR's clone brush portrait retouching worthy.

Have you actually tried the new clone and heal tool of Lightroom 5 ?
its really working for portrait retouch, obviously I am not saying that is as good as the one in Photoshop but believe me its usable

right I would give anything just to get something like that in to Capture One !!!!
its really, really frustrating non to be able to do it ☹️

    Cheers

Don't get me wrong. Every improvement and addition is great.
Yes, I have tried LR's tool. And while it's doing a good job with standard cloning, where it lacks is the subtle brushing you can do in Photoshop when using a pressure sensitive tablet and lower opacitys of say 50, where you might even click for a new clone source with every other stroke.

This is a very quick procedure that yields the highest quality results. However, I am afraid that this is actually going too deep into pixel moving - and that is where the RAW converters' realm probably ends.

    But who knows! 😊

Joining in on the need for a clone tool.

Sometimes a minor retouch in the background on multiple images is needed, when on a wedding shoot for instance, perfect setting but way in the distance is a unsightly pole/rubbish bag/ etc just a quick clone, job done.

A major tool that all the other packages out there (even the free ones) seems to have mastered.

    A real let down.
