C1 12.1 Issue/Error: C1 Extends Metadata on its own
Hi there,
I just try to get used to C1 and installed the C1 Trial Version 12.1.0.106.
Now I found the following miss-behavior in the Metadata section and would like to know if its a bug or if it is my fault:
OK, this is what happens:
- I use a Canon 7D Mark2 RAW Image (copyright & owner information are set in-camera)
- I add that file into a session capture folder and import the image
- When I click now the image in C1 and look at the info tab with the EXIF & IPTC data ...
... the field "IPTC-Contact - Creator (Ersteller)" get's auto populated.
... then - after that - the field "EXIF - Camera / Owner (Besitzer) get's auto populates too.
So all I guess is fine until here, but now it comes:
[color=#BF0000:1857l0i6]--> When I change to another picture and then back to the picture before, ...
... the field "IPTC-Contact - Creator (Ersteller)" get's auto populated AGAIN. But this time the data just get added to the end of the already populated data.
... then - after that - the field "EXIF - Camera / Owner (Besitzer) get's updated as well.
--> This can be repeated endlessly and the fields get's always again extended with the same data, so the content grows and grows ......
--> I can delete all data from the field "IPTC-Contact - Creator (Ersteller)" and play the above game (switching 1 image forth and back). Same result.
--> I can restart C1. No change, same result.[/color:1857l0i6]
BTW, in the settings I use ...
- Auto Sync Sidecar XMP = Full Sync
- Prefer Embedded XMP over Embedded IPTC = off (default settings)
- Prefer Sidecar XMP over Embedded Metadata = on (default settings)
Q: What is here wrong or why is C1 doing that ?

Do you need Full Sync?
What are you Synchonising with?
Only the information in the RAW source file?
Or do you have other metadata/IPTC data sources that may need to be updated?-1 -
I have exact the same problem and it is not solved in Capture One 21 Pro 14.2.0.136
