image rotation
tried the search function but did not find anything.
I find the image rotation very difficult to work with. I use the slider, but that does not work any good. I know you can write the numbers, but that isn´t very practical either.
Is there any other way to use it? I found the Aperture way very good, where you grab the image at the side an turn it.
thanks,
heiko

Yes the slider is not a good way to go. Select the rotate button on the toolbar (or just press r on the keyboard). You can select 4 different options by clicking and holding on the rotate button on the tool bar. If you use the top one, you can then draw along a line that you want to be vertical or horizontal, and C1 will rotate it for you. If you want to rotate it by hand, choose the second option down that you get when you click and hold the button. Then you can drag the image round (and as you drag a grid appears, to help you).

Strange to say that although I usually set an initial rotation using rotate and dragging around or as part of the crop activity once I have a crop/rotate set for a batch I do any final tweaking using the slider in the Rotate tool and find it excellent.
It just goes to show how difficult it must be to specify and develop software tools that will satisfy the needs of a wide spectrum of users.
I suppose we should be thankful for individuality.

Indeed, individuality makes the world go round! I find it hard to control the slider accurately enough. If I want to tweak the rotation I type in a number slightly smaller or larger than the current value. It's strange how small a difference, just a fraction of a degree, can look right or wrong. The human eye/brain is very sensitive. And sometimes I think that what the vertical or horizontal says is mathematically right doesn't look right and I want to tweak it one way or the other a little.

Ian,
What are using as an input device?
I think there should b some very fin control with a scroll wheel mouse (for example) but I have to confess that I use a notebook touch pad 🤓
It seems to be accurate to less than .1 of a degree using the slider which I find enough.
I'm using Windows though I I would not rule out the hardware/firmware/software/driver combinations giving very different results.

I'm using either the touchpad on a MacBook Pro, or the magic mouse or magic touchpad with an iMac. Perhaps I'm just ham fisted!

I doubt you can be any more ham fisted than me.
Maybe the sensitivity settings for the touchpad make a difference? The driver for this one seems to have a lot of tuning potential. For somethings it seems much too sensitive.
