C1 allows Loading Metadata but how does one Save Metadata? If I cannot save it,how do I load it?
you can save them as a "style".
enter metadata, go to the adjustment tab, at the bottom click "copy", deselect all adjustments except of the metadata you want to store. click on "styles"->safe as style

are you referring to menu->"load metadata"? No, by now I couldn't figure out what this is for.
But with a style it is working. you can either safe only metadata as a style or combine it with other settings such as camera profile, NR, sharpening or whatever...

Like I said, I know about Styles but the point is we have been given a Load Metadata that does nothing.

Load metadata helps after migrating a session from CO 4.8.3 to CO5. At first, CO5 won't recognize the metadata except for the keywords (see thread about stripping metadata). Using "load metadata" brings back all IPTC metadata attached to the RAW file (in my case Leica M8 DNG).
