Tethering issues. What should I check through?
Had to do a clean install of my software on my new MacBook Pro as there were issues from Migration Assistant. Before the clean install C1 6.4.5 worked fine when tethering my new 5DMkIII, but after the clean install and downloading a new version of C1 6.4.5 I haven't been able to get C1 to tether at all. The most I've got is a "Busy" msg on the camera display couple of times, but it hasn't "connected". Meaning I didn't see the camera controls in C1, and after firing the camera no image transferred to C1 and the computer.
OSX 10.8.5, 2.7 Ghz Intel core i7, 8GB RAM, 435 GB of hard drive space available.
C1 6.4.5
5D MkIII firmware 1.2.3 (no hacks).
Tethering with USB cable that came with camera and repeater 2.0 USB extension cable.
Any immediate suggestions on what could be the cause?
What things should I checklist through to find the issue?
Many thanks!!!

The first step is to get rid of that cable.
When troubleshooting make everything as simple as possible, an added cable is an added point of failure.
Things to check;
- Ensure your running Capture One in the PRO MODE (Capture One > About)
- Ensure the Canon Provider is checked on in the Capture One Preferences and then quit
- Remove any SD/CF Card from the camera
- Locate the USB port on your computer that shares NO OTHER CONNECTIONS
- Connect the camera with the Canon Provided USB Cable (yes the short impractical one) and turn it on
- Ensure the Computer sees the camera attached to the USB in System Profiler (if not try another USB port)
- Ensure no other software is running that would try to hijack the connection
- Launch Capture One0
