Bugs in 4.6 - Hangin on Quit, etc
I have two problems with 4.6 std that I don't see anybody else mentioning... ok actually three, but that is a small nit.
3. If I quite C1, it doesn't quit... it sits active in the toolbar, and will not launch again, until I do a Force Quit.
2. If you have a large folder (1,500 files) the C1 becomes amazingly slow in everything. I can't see anywhere if it's busy processing thumbnails or something like that, but it eats resources like crazy...
1. Importing files from a flashcard doesn't import all the files. On a shoot today, I did the imports, check that it starts and let C1 eject the card when done. After about half a day of shooting, I had 300 files les in the directory than what was shot, and it seems C1 left off about the last 10% of any card I imported... This is the big issue...
Any ideas!?

On the importing problem, I noticed this a while back as well. The thing is that you have to wait until the importer finishes bringing in all the thumbnails on the card before hitting 'Import All'. If you hit it before then, it will only import all the images it has loaded so far.
Basically just watch where it shows the number of images on the card and wait until it's definitely finished adding up.0 -
AAARGH.... That is a disaster!!!
my personal opinion is that it's terible way to operate the importer, especially if you work in high volume in a production studio... now you have to wait for 16gb of 21mp raw files to show up, before you can press the import key!?
That sucks... bad design... bad... bad... bad...
Thanx for the feedback on that though, now I know! ;-D0 -

I use Photo Mechanic to ingest files due to this and a lack of ITPC templates. I would hope PhaseOne is working on improving these short-comings.0 -
This is the stupidest design desicion EVER!
I lost 300 files from a commercial shoot this way before realising what was going on... Just working through the files now again, and I am soo miffed. Can anybody please explain to me the logic behind this?!0 -
No, but the solution is simple: either stick to the CO-way, and wait for all images to be read from the card before starting import, or abandon the CO4 import function, use Finder or better a third party utility (I use PhotoMechanic and it is very professional as the raw conversion of CO4).
The import tool is not one of CO4's best parts, IMHO. Accepts its limitation or look for better elsewhere. But you must have figured that out already yourself, haven't you? 😁0 -
I saw this before, but I tought that it was a "reading" card problem (maybe...)
So, I just import "card to file", and reame them in Bridge by batch rename.
Sorry about your loss, is quite frustating...0 -

Hahahaha... you telling me!
I never used the import tool on CO because I don't want any fidgetting with the files (comes from old 10D and dpp predecessor as raw converter issues) anyhow... CO4 makes the biggest jumble of the preview files if it's open and you copy stuff into the same directory with finder. you physically have to delete the sidecar files to get it right again, and re-launch CO.
That is why I tried the import... and obviously testing it, everything was at a slow pace and not critical, so I never realised this fatal design flaw.
Luckily I realised that something is amis about halfway through the shoot, and started copying things over the old way with finder...0 -
I usually just use Image Capture (part of OSX) to bring in files. It's simple and quick and clears the card after downloading. I only wish that there was a way to disable C1's import dialogue from popping up every time. 0
