    Hi,

The All Images collection is the main collection and represents all the images plus variants that are imported into the catalog.
The User Collections can contain Albums and Smart Albums. Both type of albums can contain images but these images are just additional views or links to the 'real' images that were imported into the catalog. They do not count as additional images.

Regarding numbers (the counters) the following.
    - Imagine a catalog with 100 images (All Images = 100). You create 3 Albums and a total of 10 images are placed in these Albums. The All Images counter is still 100 images. Your User Collections contain only a subset of your total collection of images.
    - Imagine you have another catalog with only 1 image (All Images = 1)
Now you make 3 different Albums plus 2 different Smart Albums. You place that single image in each Album and you configure your Smart Albums that this single image shows up in each of them. Now your User Collections counters add up to 5 while your catalog still has 1 image (All Images remains 1).

    Now for deleting
    - When you delete an image from an Album, you delete the link of that image from the Album. Nothing is put in the catalog Trash and the image still exists in the catalog.
    - When you delete an image from a Smart Album, or any Catalog Collection or Folders collection, the image is remove from the catalog. If the image is a full managed image, that is stored inside the catalog, you will find it in the catalog trash.
If the image is a referenced image, stored outside the catalog, you have the option to delete the reference only or move that image to the System Trash.

Thank you very much Paul. I appreciate the time and effort put into this reply - you have worded it in a way that is very easy to understand. Another piece of the CO7 puzzle drops into place. Cheers, jp
