    Hi there

So the consensus on this thread is that v9 has a big problem? So why hasn't Phase withdrawn it? Where is there a clear statement that Phase accepts there is a problem?

With all this uncertainty I for one will not be trying v9. No way am I volunteering to be an unpaid b-tester!

Because the consensus is among a small sample of the overall user base. There are other users who have not experienced significant problems with CO9.

    It's not compulsory Peter.

I feel the same way about Windows 10 - even though it's a "free" upgrade.

Keeping relevant things in ram, ready to use, makes an application faster, not slower. If the RAM was clearly at every given step, the application of course not use much ram, but the data needed would have to be either read from disk, with much much slower I/O speed, or re-computed, using additional and unnecessary CPU-resources.

Of course leaking is completely different story, but in case of your 3 gb extra usage, that is very likely not the case.

We use a lot of automated testing, both during testing and during development. We also use a lot of manual testing, as far from all test-activities can be or should be automated.

Update from my side: I doubled my available RAM and now the crashes are gone. Crahses seems to be generated by extensive swapping. But similar to the statements from "Bobtographer" I strongly feel that there is a big difference in memory consumption of C1 8.3.4 to C1 9.0.

    Yup,
    C1 v9 is leaky.
NEFs from D750 on Windows 7.
At one point I had an out of memory crash on my 32GB machine...
Now I just restart when I see memory usage getting over 20GB.

    cheers

    I have a 8gb i5 3210 Windows 10 machine.

With the windows optimizer open it is clear that each adjustment is taking 100% of the cpu and seconds to complete, however, the memory is very much stable around 4mb. Worth noting that I am not running anything else at the time.

Not coming up as an update but the latest version on the website is 9.01. Only had a quick play but it appears to be quicker 😄

9.0.1 is simnifically faster, on my test machine. Will update production machine at end of day to compare. But seems it works way better, then even 8.3.4. Great job PO team

    Hi All,

My first post here. I'm noticing on the newest version (and the original 9.0), I get memory warnings all the time on Windows 10 with Nikon NEF files.

Not sure if the two are related, but figured I would chime in.

What system and how much RAM do you have? Can you be more precise with what you do before getting the warnings? Can you look to Taskmanager, memory consumption in parallel when working with C1?

My apologies for the late reply.

    My system is as follows:

    Intel i7 4790k
    16gb of Hyper X ram
    Samsung 850 Evo 512gb SSD
    Windows 10 64bit

I have all my photos load and export on my NAS drive, which is a Synology NAS setup.

I'll notice errors with no other programs running, and perhaps just browsing my catalog, or making small changes to photos. I've noticed memory errors also when just importing my new photos from an SD card.

I have never seem a memory error running C1 - or indeed any other application. However I don't have a NAS and I'm not running Win 10.

I have no idea whether that is significant.

Grant, you do have a lot more memory, don't you ? 😕

    NN635353768610194900UL ,
I do see Windows memory warnings more often, but I only have 8 GB on my Windows 7 system. However, depending on the settings for the virtual memory: I have the impression if settings are such that Windows controls the size of the virtual memory I have such warnings less often.

I have 24GB now but the machine originally had just 8GB and I ran with that for a while. That would have been V7 I guess. The need for 64bit OS.

9.0.1 seems to have conquered the mass use of memory for me 😄

    So, thought I'd put Capture One V9 through it's paces with 717 images from a 7D MK2 (CR2)

26GB of memory usage? (have to close Capture One to get that back as ImgCoreProcess.exe likes to hang on to it for some reason?)

    this no longer happens.
