    Hi,

I had the same issue after upgrating to CaptureOne Pro 6.2.2 on my Windows 7 x64. Even in command line window(cmd.exe), I got a message telling me that the CR2 file was hold by another process. Only raws file were locked.
Under Windows Explorer, I got a message telling me that the file is opened by... Explorer.

Just reboot your machine, and all return to normal state.

Seems something curious happens during the upgrade. I have installed, some weeks ago, FastPictureViewer. Is there a link ? I don't know.

    Hi Alex,

A software issue is rarely a hardware problem. It is more expensive to think to a hardware problem when we get an 'unexpected feature" (definition of a bug for me, lol). Hardware problems signs are more often : blue screen, unexpected reboot, wife asking for going shopping, puff of smoke, building destroyed by fire, but not a file hold by a process.
    More seriously,
I did encounter again this bug this morning : cannot delete a CR2 neither in MP1 nor *µWindows Explorer. I did close C1, then all is fine, even if C1 is open again. But after that, I am now unable to reproduce this issue.
I know it occurs in MP1, with every files shown in Media tab, and have open a case for that. Is there a link to do ?

Can somebody tell me how to know which process use a data file on Windows 7 x64 Home Edition ?
    Thanks,

    Hello Gilles.
I now this thinks but as prof. photografer you need a machine that work all day fine. and since the upgrade at the old computer (not old hardware I7 960,8 GB and lot more goot thinks) the machine has problems. I look more than one week many hours to find all problems. But i think the only way is to install windows and all other software new. But this is only possible when i have a other machine to can do my work day per day. and now at the new one with the new update other problems. so it is serious to say the C1 make this problems (no other software was change).

Since installing 6.2.2 this is now happening to me regardless of which software I've opened a file in. So if I'm processing in (say) Lightroom, I'm unable to delete any files that I've opened in Lr until I close that software.

I find it very hard to believe that 6.2.2 was tested much at all on a Win 7 x64 system before it was released.

    Hi Alex
Yes, I agree with you. I have two jobs : IT manager and art photograph. I know what is a machine out of order just when you must deliver a contract... May be I am too crazy to "play" with my photography machine, and I have the luck to have a spare one ready to start. In both desks. As IT, I even have no datas on my daily computer; and if it fails, I restore a Symantec ghost image then on the way again after one hour, certainly with some minor missing implementations. during this hour, the spare machine runs.
But be sure, Alex, that I full agree with you. And I guess you do not want to hear about computer maintenance when you make photos !

    Hi Keith,
Yes, I saw that too a little bit after. And was a little bit disappointed by this behaviour. A restore with a two days old snapshot of my machine solved the problem : 6.2.2 disappeared, 6.2.1 cames back here, and now waiting for the 6.2.3.
I am very curious to know what is (was) this bug.

    Jim,
I do not have options with Phaseone, and I can understand a terrible bug, if it occurs with only some users, in a specific configuration. We must be careful, because we only see here unhappy customers. The happy ones doesn't write anything.
To correct a bug, it must be reproduce. And sometimes, it is an amazing job because all works fine at the factory.
However, okay, it is better if the validation team prevents this situation !
And YES, I feel sometimes the "forgotten man" with my x64 machine.

So, now, they have reproduce the bug, the most difficult is done. We only have to wait, yes.

    Best regards,

It damages other things too. My pen tablet was disabled this morning - Windows' pen-tablet 'flicks' were misbehaving, rendering it unusable (I don't even use flicks). But, when attempting to enter flicks' control panel, the "windows common shell dll" would crash.

I had opened a support case to report my D3's tethering wasn't working in 6.2.2 and they sent me the WIC disabling registry keys. I ran this, and lo, my pen tablet returned to its operational state.

It seems that 6.2.2 does some bad registry mojo with wide ranging consequences.
