Turn off immediate sorting in "sort by rating" mode
I am on set today with a client who is used to editing in C1Pro v5 and is becoming frustrated that C1Pro v6 is moving each newly rated image to the top (or wherever it would fall in rating order) IMMEDIATELY, causing the selected image to move automatically to the next one. Is there really no way to solve this problem in v6? Any help would be much appreciated, but keep in mind that I'm trying to accommodate a client's existing workflow, so suggestions to a change in workflow will not be helpful.
Thanks,
k

This behavior was introduced with CO6, but slightly weakened in 6.1 and later. The difference that 6.1 and later introduced is that a selected image that was rated will stay put until you select another (next) image. As far as I see this is still the case with 6.3.3.
For the discussion a year ago, you can read the thread and Phase One's support staff reply here:

If you leave the drop down menu on date or name while starring files they will stay put. Switching to rating will group all the starred files together for close comparison.
Hope that helps.0 -
I've set up a keyboard short cut for sort by rating and sort by name (option+R and option+N). That way its fast to switch between the two modes 0 -
Thanks, guys! You've basically confirmed what I was hoping wasn't true (that there really ISN'T a solution to this particular problem). Oh well. I like the idea of using keyboard shortcuts for the different sorting methods! 0 -
I've had several clients complain about the same thing. Seems like it would be an easy fix on the software side.... 0 -

Unfortunately I don't believe we will be reverting this feature.
The sorting method was one way and we received a flood of requests to make it update "live". Now we have done so and received a few requests to make the update "manual". Unfortunately we cannot please everyone all the time ☹️0 -
I found a solution that works ok for me.
I used to initially tag with 2star then promote and demote. But as they move immediately when you select next image this does not work very well any more, as if you want to compare with previous image you have to move all the way to the top and mark them both. This worked much better before when you could move back and forth till you chose to re-arrange. I have now started doing a colour tag on my initial edit. Then when doing second round on the edit I add a star tag. Since images are still sorted by colour tag they stay in place. When done second round I can either change to arrange by rating or add a different colour tag to the starred images.
Hope this method helps someone else as well..0
