Catalogue or Session Back up NOT working?
Hey guys, cannot find anything on this in the search as it tells me the search words are too short?
I am working with C-1 7.1.6 and when I click back up option and direct it to an external hard drive, it does nothing but put 2 empty folders with a series of numbers on my other external HD and nothing ever happens. The folders are empty. Are there any tutorials on how to use the back up function. I want my sessions or catalogues to be automatically backed up during a days shoot. Am I missing something?
Is there any other way, besides manually, to have a days shoot be backed up on another Hard Drive during a shoot? Even just the RAWs would be nice..I think Lightroom has this option.
Thanks in advance for any help..
Eric
PS. I have just tried Chronosync and it works really well...For anybody who might be having the same problem.. 😁

Sounds like it's an access with the external drive.
If the drives are NTFS you may have some conflicts because Mac doesn't like NTFS.
Otherwise just check to make sure ownership is ignored in the Mac OS and the Permissions give you (admin) full access.0 -
First, I do not believe sessions are backed up, you are on your own for backing up the directories for sessions.
On Catalogs, it seems like only the DB file is backed up. Images are not backed up, even if retained in the Catalog and not external. At one time I thought that other CO7 generated files were also backed up, but I don't think they are any more. (I have not done very much with layers and masks any more inside of CO7, I find it much easier to do it all in photoshop.)
Ya, I think that if phaseone removed the backup no one would care, to me it is almost useless. Get a sync program point it at the two places (source, dest) and let it rip. Much better.0 -
What is the purpose of Back up option then? And I use only macintosh and Mac Journaled Hard drives, That is not the problem.
But it does not matter, I have been using Chronosync for the last 2 days and it works flawless..Strange that the MOST important thing on a shoot is to have a back up and C-1 cannot incorporate this some how. I guess the Backup feature is misleading then. Back up to me means BACK UP copy of all files, specially the RAW's. Sounds like PhaseOne needs to work on this or explain it better in some kind of tutorial. It seems misleading or no?
Thanks for the responses and anybody looking for the same thing might want to check out Chronosync.
