Catalog size underestimated in C1
The picture size of the catalog (all images), or images inside a folder as reported in the Info panel in the Library tool is consistently lower than what's reported by OSX Finder. For instance, for my current test catalog of some 950 images, C1 reports the total size to be 37.55Gb, while finder reports 40.32Gb. Another example is a reference folder on my HD with on one video file in it is reported in C1 as 434.2Mb while the file size in Finder is 455.3Mb. What gives? Is C1 calculating the file size differently for some reason? Might not be a big deal, but still...

This is because OSX reports 1MB as 1000 KB and not 1024 KB. This was a change Apple made in Snow Leopard so that 1TB disks actually showed up as 1TB etc. I'm not keen it and neither were many others 😉 0 -
Thanks! Didn't know that OSX did this. I guess that since OSX is becoming more and more dumbed down in it's interface, I guess then that Apple finally have decided that users are too stupid to understand the base 2 number system... 😊

It is a decision beyond Apple, in case you're interested, but your statement reminds me of a joke, which illustrates the point:There are 10 kinds of people: those who understand binary and those who don't.
