Export TIF with embedded profile not working
Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro6,1
Processor Name: 6-Core Intel Xeon E5
Processor Speed: 3.5 GHz
Total Number of Cores: 6
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 12 MB
Memory: 32 GB
OS: Majove (10.14.2)
For CO Pro 11 my recipes all have embedded profile for color space. When I process a TIFF file in CO Pro 12 with those recipes I get an 8 Byte empty file AND I have to restart CO Pro in order to process ANY file. However if I process and export as a JPEG it works. If I specify a color space profile (i.e. Adobe 98 or sRGB), then the TIFF files export as usual. I CAN export as an a variant with the "embedded profile" option but that's not part of my normal work flow. For now specifying a color space.
A side note: When I try to use one a TIFF file exported from CO Pro 12 in Lumariver I get this error: "File seems to be exported from Capture One but lacks transfer function (TIFFTAG_TRANSFERFUNCTION), which means that it was not correctly exported for profiling."
Anyone else experiencing this?
Thanks.

Two suggestions.
One, process without OpenCL hardware acceleration.
Two, create a new process recipe in CO12 and try again.
By the way, macOS 10.14.2 is not yet supported.0 -
I also have problems using embedded device profiles when I want to create a camera profile with Lumariver Profile Designer. Therefore I opened a case at PhaseOne and got the answer, that this is a known issue of Version 12.
Hope that this will be fixed soon.
For now my solution is that I have reinstalled Version 11 parallel to V12. I use it only in Session-Mode to export color-targets. The output files of V11 work fine with Lumariver Profile Designer.0 -
After spending a whole day wondering why my copy of CP1 kept crashing and why I was unable to achieve a useable ICC profile using Lumariver, I finally read the Lumivar manual in detail. It would appear that they are aware of a major bug in C1 Pro involving the Transfer function and that Phase One are aware of it.
Is there any indication of when a fix will be issued? as unlike some who have reverted back to version 11 I can't as 11 doesn't support my Nikon Z7
Thank you0 -

Thank you
C1 V11.3.2 , available from the Archive, does support the Z7.

The release was created specifically, and released after V12, to support certain cameras and OS updates that came very near the V11 end of life.

Thanks Grant
Hopefully that will solve things for now

Hi Grant
One question though - does 11.3.2 support OS X Mojave?
I may still be out of luck ☹️0 -
It crashed on loading, so I guess that answers my question about Mojave ☹️
Oh well, I'll just have to wait - until then X-rite have just issued a beta version of their Colorchecker Passport software which generates profiles for Capture One Pro.
I wasn't very enamoured with my first try (The C1 generic profiles looked better) but maybe I'll give it another go

Beyond that I think it's a question of creating a Support Case to ask the Team and perhaps seeking out the opinions of those who may have tried the combination of the latest versions of both products.

Yes, it does: macOS 10.14.10 -
I didn't have any luck with 10.14.2 - it crashed on startup ☹️ 0 -

And 'it' is CO 11.3.2 or 12.0.0?0 -
I was just trying the new x-rite app out and found out the hard way just like you.
I still had the v11 on another machine but hoping that phase one will adress this asap0 -
I just installed the 12.0.1 bug fix release and the 16 bit tiff with embedded profile is exporting properly for me now. 0 -
The issue is not listed in the Bug Fix section of the V12.0.1 Release Notes. But nevertheless it seems to be fixed. My exported TIFF-files with embedded camera profile are working fine now with Lumariver Profile Designer 0 -
Not working for me in 12.0.1 ( I just updated after having red the Lumariver notice : no change at all ☹️ ). 0 -

You could be more specific. I have no clue was is not working for you.0 -

The exported Tiff does still not contain the "Transfer Function" Tag in exif data (therefore I'm unable to generate ICC profile in external application, like Lumariver this time ). (COPro v12.0.1 ... I also created a new session like it was suggested in Lumariver Workaround, but it does not change anything )0 -
Maybe it makes sense to contact support and ask whether the issue discussed in this thread is supposed to be fixed in CO 12.0.1 or that a fix is pending. 0 -

Yes, will do. I confirm that it was still working in the last version of COP 11 ( I installed it this morning as a workaround, but It definitely be interesting to have an official fix for COP 12 )0 -

A profiles related question from a newbie to Capture One. In Lightroom it’s very easy to create a camera specific profile from X-Rite Color Checker Passport but with C1, not so much. I have created profiles using the instructions from on X-Rite’s web site but the only way I can see difference in rendering is if I use linear reponse in the Basic Settings, Curves. This creates a severely underexposed photo that has to be heavily adjusted to look decent. Why is this? In Lightroom I just choose the profile and it renders beautifully with the correct colors and no need for linear response. Maybe I should mention that, if I use auto curves, no difference is visible irrespective of choice of ICC profile, they all look the same. The only way to see a difference is if I use Linear Response curve.
I’d appreciate any help. One of the the reasons I finally decided to invest $300.- in Capture One Pro was the fact that it supposedly now supports profiles with the color checker.
I should mention that I use Fuji X-T3 and X-H1.0 -
Yes, it is well known that, if you use a taylor-made ICC profile in Capture One, it is compulsory to apply a linear curve, otherwise all the benefit of the camera calibration is lost. And it is absolutely normal to get a seemingly underexposed image (say 1 to 1 â…“ IL). The reverse side is that from this dull image you can achieve a much better result, as you have more flexibility in the adjustments.
I've been told that the best software to calibrate your camera with Capture One is Lumariver, but the X-rite's software should work as well.
And yes, you were right to switch from Lightroom to Capture One, as the colour management (and not only) is much better in the latter.
As I left Lightroom for a while now, I don't have any experience about the way of using customised dcp profiles.

Thanks, Robert.
Then It works as designed. I am a little disappointed though that it doesn’t work like in Lightroom where, I guess, a start curves adjustment is applied so the only difference from the original photo is the improved color rendering of your specific camera sensor. Interestingly, I got it to work with with auto curves in C1 when I converted the original raf-file to a DNG and imported it into Capture One applying the ICC profile. Then it works exactly like in Lightroom. Go figure!
As far as Lumariver is concerned, as played around with it and there appears to be some issues with C1 12 described in their instructions.
