Capture 4.X tools

I downloaded capture onw 4.1 to try it out. I was able to load some pictures I have in my hard drive into the program, but Iwan not able to make any adjustmnets, I tried the crop tool, white balace, color tools, etc. nothing worked.
Can some one please tell me what is it that I am not doing right.
I am new to Capture one, please need your help

  Three different causes might prevent you from being able to adjust images.
  First, with Capture One 4 you can only adjust raw files, not JPEG or TIFF files.
  Second, if you have raw files, the camera might not be supported by CO4 (but the image won't not appear I believe). You can check the release notes of the version you downloaded or download the latest version.
  Third, since CO 4.1 (we have 4.5 now) there is a DB mode, for Phase One data backs only. All other file types (typically DSLRs) are shown but no adjustments can be made. Start the program in regular or (if you have 4.5) Pro mode for a 30-day trial.

  I was uploading jpeg files from my hard Drive instead of raw files. Now it's working with the right format.
