Clone or heal?

Depending on the hair and background colors, making a mask from a color selection could work. Use the Color Picker to select the hair, then adjust the selection if needed, and then make a mask from the selected color.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will try, but I think differentiating the strands this way will be difficult. Tried editing with Affinity Photo and their Clone Stamp worked perfectly. Don't know why C1Pro version is so squirrely.

That's partly because they are different programs for different purposes. C1 is basically a raw processor that has added on some extra facilities as time has gone on, but it is not intended to be a Photoshop substitute. On the other hand, Affinity Photo is intended to be an alternative to Photoshop. In my view, and I think quite a lot of users agree, C1 is right not to try to do everything that Photoshop does, and accept that there will be some things that you need to use another application for. So being able to do some small tidying up with the clone and heal facilities in C1 is useful, but for more, there are applications better suited to the job.

By the way, in Affinity Photo, have you tried the inpainting tool for the job you asked about?

Agree, but if C1 does add a Photoshop function, shouldn't it at least be competently implemented or removed?

I have only just started playing with Affinity Photo, so no I did not try inpainting tool, but will take a look. The Clone Stamp worked just fine.

    Thanks,

I see your point, but I think that it is not really a Photoshop function that has been added. It saves going to Photoshop or Affinity, etc for minor repairs. I find this welcome, because most of the time C1 is all I need, but I know that many users expect to go on to Photoshop after C1 as a matter of course, so I suppose that they would use it (or equivalent) for major cloning and healing work while they are at it.
