C! 8.3.2.6 loads images but is dead inside
On my mac pro 10.10.4 After 2 weeks of trying and liking C1 few things happened and now I can no longer use it (let alone trust it with my images).
It started when I started a new session wanting to see just images I selected for this session but it kept on loading the images for the new session together with images from last session. Had to erase some sessions and catalog to start over with only the images I wanted. Now C1 loads only the images I want but all processing is grayed out so nothing can be processed. Consequently I deleted the program and any file that was associated with it in applications and in libraries and catalogs and reinstalled it. Same results - C1 is present but dead inside and only 17 days remain in my trial period. Contacted tech support, a day later and no reply...

Check your monitor profile.
And (as an as yet non-paying customer) you have to give support more than a day, especially if it's a weekend!

Make sure to disable (untick) the setting "Open in new window" in the Catalog and Session section of the General tab of the preferences. This makes sure only the last opened session/catalog is re-opened on starting CO.
For the grayed out settings, please make sure your images are available on your system, correctly located and with the proper authorizations on OS level (using repair permissions helps quite often).
It may help us to know what the "few things happened" are. Also whether you're experiencing this in a session or catalog, or both (i understand your post mentions sessions). Which type of images is also helpful to know. Lastly, if possible, attach a screen shot of the situation. This should give all of us fellow users a better shot at helping you.0
