Media Pro no longer a product?
Has Phase One decided to stop with Media Pro now?
On the products > software page it is not being mentioned any longer since the announcement of Capture One Pro 9. Capture One is the only software now.
On the store page they still offer it.

phase one throw it away 😂 0 -
Maybe they'll sell it to a company that will develop it. 😂 0 -
Support told me like a couple of months ago that they would release a new version before the end of the year of both product. Capture One is out, now should come Media Pro. Or so I hope. 0 -
I would hope that Phase One is moving away from Media Pro and transferring it's features to Capture One. Or perhaps sharing a code base between the two. 0 -

If by "sharing a code base" you mean keeping the programs separate, then I would support that.
But with regard to "moving away from Media Pro," I disagree. For my workflow, I prefer a separate DAM (with round-tripping to the editor of my choice).
Merging the programs would be palatable only if all of Media Pro's features are transferred and remain easily accessible, and if 3rd party editors can be launched from within the program. (And the price has to reasonable too, since I don't own CO.) But given the complaints I've read on this site about Phase One's initial attempts to integrate just a few DAM features into CO, I don't have a lot of confidence that the programs can be merged without losing the robustness, ease of use, and reliability of the original Media Pro catalog.0 -

My thoughts (worth less than a penny):
I tend to agree. CO catalogs are getting more robust and, yes, I can create a "catalog of catalogs" like in MP1.
However:
- code base: I'm a UNIX person and I believe that tools should be compact and ought to be optimized to do one job very efficiently. C09 is an excellent RAW converter and ought not to be made into a DAM. Software bloat and all that. I'd prefer PhaseOne's developers to focus on the core of CO9 and dedicate some resources to the improvement of MP1. Obviously, I am in no position to make any judgments about the business case;
- changes to workflow: I just happen to love CO sessions of whatever size. They're self-contained, are easy to copy between machines using something as primitive as an USB-stick and I know exactly where my RAWs are. Reliable file management is hard enough as things are.
MP1 has its shortcomings but as a DAM it is not bad at all -- at least as an out-of-the-box product for OSX (and it runs quite well on El Capitan, too).
cheers

Media Pro 1.6 is currently in beta testing stage. So, not totally abandoned! 0 -

Yes, at least a maintenance update to bring OS and C1 compatibility and some bug fixes. The least current users can expect. But still no mention of it when you go the PhaseOne website and click on Products > Software.0 -
This is an answer I got when reporting bugs to Phase One support: Hi - thanks for writing.
In regards to Media PRO we are focussing also on Capture One trying to add all Media PRO features into that application. Then we have the full DAM functions next to the full camera platform support and Image Core. Thereby said that we are developping moe and more into Capture One and we will focus on Media PRO in case we find a major bug og showstopper for the application to work at all.
We will report this issue ofcourse and we also kindly ask you to look at Capture One as an alternative.
Thanks for using Media PRO.

After aquiring Expression Media six years ago there's still a very long way to go! Capture One 9 is nowhere near being the DAM solution that Media Pro is.0
