Leopard Workaround
As always, where there's a will, there's a workaround.
I installed Leopard today and almost had a heart attack when I realized that C1 wouldn't install. BUT, thanks to ekfphoto's post, I had an idea that actually worked. I didn't have a back up copy of the app like ekf did, but was encouraged to hear that the app was actually working fine.
So the problem seems to be just with the installer and not with the app at all. So, easy workaround: Just 'show package contents' on the installer and you can find the app itself in one of the sub folders. Just copy that into your applications folder and you're good to go! You just also have to copy from the package any color profiles you might need as well and put them in "Library/ColorSync/Profiles/"
*phew* that was a close one.

that was a great workaround for the installer issues. I didn't even think of it... 0 -
Thanks....slick workaround for sure! @. 0 -
Maybe I should know this, but how do I "show package contents"?
Thanks.

simply right-click on the file and it will show up as an option in the contextual menu.0 -
I feel really stupid, but I don't quite understand the workaround. I installed leopard and now capture one won't work. Do I re-install Capture One? Which Installer is the problem? Which installer am I looking for "show package contents" in? I lost an entire session/card trying to download through capture one after installing leopard. 0 -

That's all fine, but my problem isn't RUNNING or INSTALLING C1 - it's the fact that it won't show captures when tethered to a 5D or 1DS 2, (haven't tried the backs yet). It shows that it is receiving captures, but won't show thumbnails, or previews. The ONLY way to get images into Capture One is to drag and drop raw files from a memory card, but this is so slow, and really messes with a shoot. 0 -
I followed the instructions for the leopard work around. I re-installed capture one by right-clicking and copying the actual application into my applications folder. The application launches, but instead of downloading my images, it erases them from the card and shows nothing in the captures folder.

Karey,
There seems to be an issue between Leopard / C1 that affects both Camera Capture and copying from cards (using Capture One's interface).
Right now the only way to get photos in is either manually copying them from the card in Finder or using Apple's Image Capture. Otherwise, as you already know, you risk losing photos. Hoping not a lot of people find this out the hard way!0 -
Thanks Dave. I can import them into CS3 too, but I bought Capture One because I like it and want to use it...very frustrating! If I copy the images manually from the card can I then import them into Cap One? Thanks for the info... 0 -
Yes, just browse to the folder you copied them into in C1 and it will open them up fine. Or you can also just drag one of them from that folder onto the application icon and it will open that folder of images.
Hopefully they will release an update fixing this problem and any other possible Leopard quirks in the near future. Guess that's just the price we pay for being the early adopters. 😊0
