Are the numbers completely missing or are they showing zeroes?

Missing them completely. I would like to post a screen shot her but this is not possible, isn't it?

Host the screen shot somewhere and post in the link.

If you are browsing physical folders (Session or Catalogue?) the folders need some images in them before numbers will display. If you are using a folder hierarchy the count will not currently be the sum of the images in the lower level folders.

The count is also dynamic according to any filters being applied.

Smart albums are also dynamic (being smart ....).

Albums are defined collections and so on first opening can report contents.

If you have variants of an image and the image is expanded to make them visible they will be counted individually.

    Thank you

Here comes a gallery visualizing my problem:

I dedected also that hoovering with the mouse over session folder after a second or so a small window with the path (third pic in the linked galery) is appearing. Be patiend, it needs up to 4-5 seccond depending on the size of the session. As you see on the screenshot I have activated an album (orange) but this does not have an influence on this (unknown) feature. Just hold the mouse over the folders and wait...

Hoovering over a session album brings out the numbers of files/selected pictures in that folder after a while (third pic in the linked galery)

All the selections in you screenshots are either albums or smart albums, if they show no numbers it means they are empty. The folders are under "Systemordner" and correctly show no numbers as C1 does not aggregate the number of images in subfolders.

    I made a new galery:

    http://herbertlehmann.com/CMS/clients/C1ProNumbers/

The Album "Türkis" contains a selection of 753 pics as shown on gallery picture number 3 (hoovering with the mouse)

I marked one file with 5 stars and selectet the smart album "5 Sterne" as shown on gallery picture number 6.

The smart album "Alle Bilder" should show 1679

All folders are emty EXEPT the folder "Aufnahmeordner" therefore I don't expect any numbers there. The folder Aufnahmeordner should show 1679 (4th pic in the gallery)

To make it even clearer I made a screenshot of the path where the files are located (last pic in the gallery).
    DiscStation1 is an external NAS

    Any clue? Thx

My German is a little rusty but I think you are using sessions and not a catalogue. I am not too familiar with sessions and you might need the contribution of some other members. What version of C1 are you running? How did you create the albums called Türkis and 5 Sterne? Most importantly, how did you get all your images in the Türkis Folder?

Well, I am with 9.0.3 since 9.1 is still a little bit querky.
The 5 Sterne (5 stars) is there on default. The album "Türkis" I created with the + button and the files went in by drag and drop.
I have a strong suspicion that the numbers are only on in catalogues. Can anyone confirm that here? Not that will find out that I am overlooking a switch in the depth of menues...

Since you are on the same version I am and I use catalogues and you use sessions, and I can see numbers and you cannot. I am inclined to agree with your suspicion that numbers are only visible on catalogues. I would suggest opening a support case.
