Your lost of catalogues has nothing to do with Windows 7 64 bits. A lot of us are using this operating system in combination with Expression Media. So it has to be something else.
To begin troubleshoot you have to aske yourself what has changed. In most situations the problem can be found there.

Fixing your problem is easy, just restore the most recent backup you made of the catalogue. In a stable situation, you don't have to put these on external media. When your internal harddisk is unreliable I suggest to move your photo's first...

    Succes!

I don't see why it's a hard drive problem. I've never lost any picture. The problem is only with EM catalogs.
    Waiting for any pertinent explaination...

Well logically the catalogue is just a file like any other file and if it goes missing it's usually because it has been moved, deleted or you have forgot where you saved it. I do not know why you blame EM for that as in all my years using it (and the last year on Windows 7 64 bit), it has never deleted a catalogue file unless I have physically deleted it myself.

So saying that, unless specified differently EM will save any newly made catalogues in a folder called Expression Media inside the My Documents folder, so I suggest looking there first . If that does not yield any results I suggest in EM going to File > Recent Catalogues > Find Catalogues and let it search your hard drive for catalogues.
