No way to set capture orientation?

I'm 100% with you on this one. I've got a mix of P series backs and H series backs. The P backs orientate OK but not the H backs. I shoot in controlled studio set ups and need the manual control C1 v3.7 gives me.
This is a serious omission in the C4.6 software and the reason I'm going back to 3.7 yet again. It must be the 5th or 6th time I've tried to shoot a job and ended up going back to 3.7 more frustrated than ever.

I'm still in testing mode with 4.6.1 and everyday I'm finding something new that is hard to believe.
Why can't the camera orientation be set manually? Auto rotation is fine but sometimes being able to set manually is needed. Imagine if your pro camera only exposed on auto?
I think Capture One has forgotten what it's supposed to be - a "capture" software. It's turning into a Swiss Army Knife.
My list of unhappiness with this new version is growing longer and longer.

    Ditto.
I have tried researched how to rotate captures manually for 2 hours.
    (Canon MRKII to "portrait")
If I cannot do this, all the seemingly great new functions are a waste as I will
not be using this new version until this oversight is corrected.
    Have I missed something?

The capture naming no longer allows you to set the camera number to a fixed
number of digits as well. (ie Capture_74 as opposed to the previous version Capture_0074)

Finally, the Set White Capture WB does not work for my cameras.

It seems as thought the top six features I loved about Capture One have been diminished while all the others have been improved.

This has been discussed a few times, basically you just need to save the rotation as a style and capture with copy from that style selected. It works fine and tech support was very quick in offering this work around when I asked them about it.

OK, I'm trying this work around and no luck. I've created a style, "Rotate Counter Clockwise" by copying the adjustments from a previously rotated frame. I can see that both crop and rotation are checked in the styles menu. As well, I get a warning that I may be unhappy with "Rotation" saved in my style. In the capture menu I set the next frame to default with my new style, and I get the exposure and sharpness settings but not the rotation. Any ideas? I'm shooting 5D MkI straight down from my camera stand. The default orientation is landscape, but I'd prefer portrait.

    Any ideas?

Not only can I not rotate my captures but once they are in C1 they have to be rotated ONE AT A TIME. My poor assistant. (Although he has the rotate right "key command" down pat)

Yesterday, my client looks over our shoulder and says "how come the pics are all sideways?" I turn and say to her " Please, just don't go there! 😊 "

I was crashing/hanging so much that I am currently shooting to card.

PS. I have tried to return to 3.7.9 now IT doesn't work. Although the camera connects and the status bar of the captures seems to working, once the capture is complete "NO CAPTURE".
This has also happened to a friend.
This has happened after we've upgrade to 10.5.6 and then installed C1 v4.6.1
(Canon MrII cameras, MacBook Pro intel)

    Anyone else have this problem?

Wow - I really miss this feature and the work around doesn't seem to work for me. Everything applies in the custom style EXCEPT the rotation. It was soooo simple in 3.7.9 that I can't imagine that it would be impossible to implement it on CO4.

I have days of copy art to do and every frame is gong to require rotation. sigh...

Sorry if this is really not a helpful post, except maybe to re-confirm to other users that this feature really is missing. It's more of a grumble I guess.

So what's up Phase? Any news on this front? Is it a feature of the future (the near future, I hope)? Is it even on the development radar?

    Thanks,

    Brion

Can anyone help, I have tried the workaround for rotation.

Saving the settings as a "Style" and then applying this custom "Style" to new captures but it won't rotate the image. Other changes are applied so I know that my method is correct but can anyone tell me if the rotate will work using this workaround.
What a shame that these basic tools missing from 4.6 are not yet fixed in new version 4.6.2
Are Phase taking any notice of working photographers, we post often with constructive comments asking for these fixes and when the new update is available no change.. great shame, my job today needs me to manually rotate every new image.. Pro version ??
    Cheers

    Patrick:
The capture naming no longer allows you to set the camera number to a fixed
number of digits as well. (ie Capture_74 as opposed to the previous version Capture_0074)

In the Camera Menu you can set numbering very well: on the right beside "next capture naming" click the small arrow an you will find many options...

It's fixed in 4.6.2. (the capture naming issue below)

Now what about "Manual Capture Rotation" and "Capture White Balance " (CanonMrkII)

Well that's bizarre it's not working, I use this method all the time. But I set it up in an earlier version of 4 and it has so far survived the upgrades. Maybe you can't set this preference in the current version. Or maybe it doesn't work combined with other style elements. I'm capturing to an early Macbook Pro. I'd suggest filing a support case if you haven't already. I don't know what the developers are waiting for I guess they've got a long list.
