Extremely Slow Connection Speed with CO 4.8.3 and Canon 5dm2
Hi,
I was having problems after upgrading to Snow Leopard. I installed the CO pro 4.8.3 upgrade to work with SL. Once I did that my time to connect to the computer went from about 2 seconds to over a minute. Could not figure out what was wrong but it was painful and you definitely did not want to accidentally disconnect during a shoot. Well the problem was cured when I upgraded Canon's firmware. I usually don't upgrade firmware unless I'm having a problem. I wanted to play with the HD movie features and needed the upgrade to the next firmware to have manual exposure control. I found the cure by accident but thought some of you might find it helpful if you are having connection problems.

John,
Other forums have expressed the same findings when migrating to the 64 Bit Snow Leopard. The issue seemed to be a conflict with the Snow Leopard driver for USB 2.0 as best I can tell from other sources.0 -
My slow connection problems came back today. I turned on my camera and it took forever to connect. There has been no changes or upgrades. Any ideas of what might be the problem. After the firmware upgrade things were perfect. Turn the camera on it connected in seconds. All of a sudden today it was back to about a 30 to 40 second connection time. I have tried every cord I have with the same results.

Hi,
I found the problem! It takes somebody smarter than me to figure out why but the connection issue seems to be when I have a CF card in the camera. The fuller it is the slower it connects. The program must be reading the card for some reason that I don't know why slowing the connection time down. I can leave the card in the camera if it's empty and it connects right away. Put a card loaded with images it's like hitting the parking brake. Maybe it confuses the program some how thinking you want to import the images? The import dialog box has never appeared for me while tethered. by the way you get the same results with 4.83 or 5.0
