.CR2 will not import

I may be doing something wrong and will welcome being corrected. When I try to "Open" files with .CR2 the files are grayed out and unable to be opened. I prefer to stay and work in RAW format, what else can I do?

  Would you happen to be running in DB mode and not PRO?

  We would also need to know which camera are the .cr2 coming from and what C1 version and OS you're on.

  "Open" is used to open a Session or a Catalog, either of which can be the front end functionality to the file (or collection of files) you are looking for.
  
  Are you trying to use Open to access the CR2 file directly? I'm not certain one way or the other after reading your original post.

  I am unable to import images from a CF card from a 5D Mark II or my 5D.
  
  I'm trying to import into C1 Pro with 7.1.2 and importing .CR2 files from both cameras.
  
  I tried reading from card reader. I tried importing images to external Lacie 500 GB Drive. I tried in Catalog Mode and Session Mode. Each time I click on Import and Image dialog box is blank. Another time I selected the card reader, selected all of the images then click on import and again nothing was imported.
  
  I have McBook Pro with OS 10.75.
