Local adjustment brush blinks Viewer window

FWIW, I opened GIMP and made some large adjustments on a file, but I really do not know how to simulate a load in GIMP like C1 might cause, so while the computer was not fazed by my "test", it also was not a very well-founded test. Anyone have suggestion how I made stress-test the computer. That is, narrow the fault to either a C1 setting or to some problem in the computer?

As a quick test try setting OpenCL usage to "Never" in the Preferences and see what happens.

    Best to restart C1 afterwards.

I have no idea if will change anything but it is a quick and simple test and the sort of problem you describe might be GPU related.

If that makes a difference maybe check for NVIDIA updates or Windows drivers recently applied to see if there is anything that might relate and then take things from there.

    HTH.

I would also update CO8 before you try anything else.

Wasn't there recently an issue with a C1 version and a NVIDIA driver update. Ironed out already by updated updates 😊

Thanks to all for your replies.

Due to the "magic" of computers, after a complete shutdown (and my sleeping on it overnight), C1 and my computer are functioning normally again: local adjust selection works perfectly and in real time. No more blinking. I have no explanation. 🤭 Unless some component is beginning to fail....?

@Paul_S I wasn't aware that the 8.3 update did much more than improve tethering. Hence, I have not upgraded. Going to version history of C1, I see there are "over 30 bug fixes", so I guess I will take the chance. Here's hoping I actually gain something, and that in my installation overall isn't damaged!? 🙄

There seems to be a few odd things happening with my WIn 7 installation recently, not the least being some very erratic Firefox events, Explorer failing (kill and re-start works without a reboot but re-boot always advised as soon as viable).

After a recent Win update the gadgets stopped working on re-boot and I could not get them to start up. Suddenly, about 5 re-boots over some weeks, they started to work again.

C1 has a few situations where it crashes after excessive numbers of non-responding keystrokes but the non-response seems to be caused by non-C1 activities.

These problems are not very predictable nor are they consistent and repeatable. I can;t see any log of problems for hardware issues that relate. I have 2 SSDs and have run diagnostics on them - they seem OK. They are quite full at the moment. I have no idea if that might be a problem somehow.

Often a reboot will solve problems. Always worth a try if nothing else does. There are some very complex relationships going on within modern computer application developments.
