Which MAc Pro works best with V5?
It looks as though with V5 I am being forced to upgrade my Power Mac to and Intel based system not, which is not necessarily a bad thing. However with so many configurations available i.e., Dual Core Quad Core, etc, does someone have any recommendations as to which machine to purchase?

It will work on all (Intel machines) well, The long term question is: if C1 pro will utilize the grand central architecture (distribution of tasks across multi cores) in Snow Leopard. If so, then in theory the more cores one has, the faster it goes.
I have both Quad core w/Eizo and and older Intel 2.0 duo laptop, obviously it is quicker and nicer on the Quad, but this precludes any necessity for mobility.
Only thing I would add: DONT get the glossy screen, they are s***e, and if you are mostly location based look for an older non unibody mac with removeable/swappable battery. The last of the line 17" were as good as it got in the old body.0 -
Thanks for the advice! I also have a Mac Book Dual Core 2.6ghz and was thinking saving the $$ and just do the basic processing on that however I think the a new Mac Pro is the way to go. BTW...I couldn't agree more on the glossy screens. not sure WHY Steve decided to phase the matt screens out!! I guess our opinions didn't matter! 0 -

I am running a Mac Pro 4.1 with Snow Leopard and C1 utilzes all 16 (2x8) cores equally... according to my menu meters. Don't know whether C1 itself is coded to do so or if it's the OS. Either way... C1 is really fast and smooth on a new Mac Pro with SL.

Well I guess enough people complained, Matt screens are an option on 15" and 17".
Don't get me wrong the unibody is a work of engineering wonder, but leave form-over-function to Sony, I say.
Props to a Mac Pro. Get an Eizo to go with it though, mac monitors are same glossy ting.0
