Is there actually anyone at Phase One reading these messages?

    Dan,

This is primarily a User to User Forum that is monitored by Phase One staff to be sure customers are getting answers. In most threads answers, advice, or confirmation come from other Users. From a Technical Support standpoint, our priority is the Support system where one can Create a Support Case. For problems that are urgent and need immediate attention, please use this method of support.

The file in question with your issue is the Work file ( .C1w ) and as you've seen, these reside within the Previews folder. These are the Thumbnail image files that also contain image adjustment data. Since these files are exclusive to Capture One, there really should not be any conflicts with them.
Is the error message generated by Windows?
Are you batch processing at the time?
Any other software open when this occurs? Browse windows?
In Capture One > File > Preferences > Preview Cache tab - is the Choose location of Preview cache set to be: C:\\Program Files\\Phase One\\C1 PRO\\Previews ?

At the Save Options tab > what is set?

If the above are all good and not creating a potential problem, you can try to delete the Preferences.pf file. With software closed, browse to its location of: C:\\Program Files\\Phase One\\C1 PRO\\Preferences
Relaunching the software will rebuild this file.

If problems continue, a screenshot will often help. I'll keep a keen eye 🤓 here to see how this goes for you.

    Sincerely,

    k c

Sorry if this if this was the wrong place to post this.

It looks like it is the Save When Changing Images. When I check this I get the error. I unchecked it and the error seems to go away.

    Dan,
    No problemo...
Depends on the urgency...the Forum is a good place for answers that are not urgent. Otherwise when you are stuck and need immediate help, Create a Support Case. Cases are monitored very closely, the Forum we get to when time allows.

This sounds good... that Save setting is trying to write data to each of those files as you go through thumbnails and can create problems.

    Cheers,

    k c
