Empty session trash - what happens?

When one empties the session trash folder, where do the files go? I had a vague idea that they then went to the system trash, but they don't seem to. (Or was that in a previous version?) Not in a panic through having lost files, just curious.

    Emptying the session trash means permanently deleting the images in the trash. The system trash is not involved in the process.

    Is it just my imagination, or did some previous versions move them to the system trash?

    Happend with some CO4 releases, IIRC.
