C1 v10 won't process my TIFFs
Hi all,
Beyond the speed issues I'm having, C1 v10 will not process my TIFFs. The TIFFs are flattened and no more than 70 MB in size. The Event Log just states "Cannot process file".
I've contacted Support with this issue, but just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem, and if so, did you figure out a solution.
Cheers,
Stephen

Yes.
There are still some issues with TIFF in CaptureOne. I submitted some files to the support. I hope to see fixes in the upcoming version.
Take care0 -
Hi,
Similar problem here.
Any TIFF which has been created by C1, then modified in and saved by Photoshop (CC 2017), then reimported into C1 (v10.0.2), will not be processed. No recipe works, and the Event Log just states "Cannot process file".
Submitted to support, no useful reply so far, after 10 days they explained that the file must contain no layers - in my very first message to them I mentioned that the file was flattened, and furthermore I provided the file.
This is the first time that I feel C1 support doesn't care.0 -
....same here: viewtopic.php?f=68&t=25448 ..including any file format other than the original out of camera format.

Thanks! Yes, very similar problem. I'm still in contact with Phase One support, let's hope they will come up with something. 0 -

Clearly, whoever you were talking to had no clue what they were doing. Maybe it was their first day on the job or the receptionist answered, lol. Apparently no one looked at your file and TIFFs can certainly contain layers, that's the whole point of a roundtrip. This has worked for a long time but I actually haven't tried this in v10 yet. I'll give this a try and see if I experience the same.0 -
I have had a similar problem but only randomly and without any dreaded 'cannot process file' error notices.
What happens is that after processing in C1 (latest version) I Edit in Photoshop CS6 which automatically creates a TIFF. I usually have only 2 Layers in CS6 and Save (without Layers) before viewing in C1 again. Sometimes, not consistently, only part of the edited image is displayed - Always about a top third of the image with the rest above being white space as if it had physically slipped downwards < Very strange!
My workaround is to delete the faulty TIFF and, having kept CS6 open, return to it and Save again. Then all works as expected.
I launch Photoshop as my default Editor from within C1.
I have not reported this behaviour to PhaseOne - Perhaps I should?0 -
I have noticed someting, is this a clue, don't know…
I have tried using "Export" instead of process recipes. As I has already noticed, "Export" does work, even for files for which process recipes, on my installation, do not work.
If I do a right-click on the file in the browser, then choose "Export", then "Variants", then set things up with similar settings as in my process recipe (JPEG, 1500px Long side, sRGB, saved in the same folder as the targe of the similar process recipe):
- If I do "Export" on a TIFF file created by Capture One, and never saved in Photoshop, the export works, and the exported JPEG file has the same name as the TIFF file (except for the extension).
For example, TIFF file "_DSF9292_C1.tif" is exported as "_DSF9292_C1.jpg".
- However, if I do "Export" on a TIFF file created by Capture One, but then modified and saved in Photoshop, the export also works, but the exported JPEG file has a number added to its name, in addition to the "base" TIFF file name.
For example, TIFF file "_DSF9292_PS.tif" is exported as "_DSF9292_PS 22.jpg", and TIFF file "_DSF9292_PS2.tif" is exported as "_DSF9292_PS2 3.jpg".
Yet, in the export settings, the naming format is in all cases set to the "Image Name" token. I don't know where these added numbers come from.
Is this a clue to what goes on behind the scenes, explaining why process recipes don't work for these files?0 -
Bernard,
It is fairly standard practice for programs that are not written to automatically allow overwrites of existing files to add a version number to the file name when writing the new file. It is considered to be the safe way to deal with the potential duplication.
Whether that might cause a problem at a later stage of you processing is a different matter but if it does the details of the process may need to be re-considered to allow you to decide what to do should a duplication be a possible outcome.
HTH.

Thanks Grant, I do know this.
But in this case the folder was initially empty, there was no need whatsoever for COP to add this number.
Which makes me think but maybe, in the COP database, the file is not named as I think it is, and that this might lead to the problem I am having of COP being unable to process the file.0 -

Finally got around to try this out in v10, and I cannot not confirm the original issue. I can create TIFFs in C1v10 through "Edit With..." and have it open in Affinity Photo. Retouch the image on various layers and save that same TIFF with all layers (finally works in Affinity Photo!). Back in C1, the TIFF updates with the preview of the changes I made. If I need to make more changes, I can "Open With..." in Affinity Photo again and all the layers are intact. I make more changes and save them again. Once complete, I can process/export the TIFF from C1, works without issues. So round-tripping and processing work fine for me. - The only thing still being an issue is the way TIFF previews are handled; despite seeing another report that this was fixed, I don't see that. Whenever I select a TIFF in the browser, I get the spinning beachball for at least 5secs before it gets selected.0 -
Actually the problem manifested itself for Photoshop-savec diles, but not with those saved with Affinity Photo…
In the meantime, I must say that a full erasal and reinstallation of Capture One solved the issue (although a first try at reinstallation did not). It has not recurred so far.0
