Capture One Crashes on Opening
Whenever I try to open C1 it crashes the program. I am getting an error that it tried to write to a read only file. For some reason it keeps trying to write to my cd/dvd drive. I would love to change it to one of my disk drives but can't because once I clear the error message it closes the program. It does ask me to submit a crash report which I did but doubt it will lead to anything.
I also tried downloading the latest C1 program 4.78 or something like that but still doest the same thing. Very frustrating!

This is not normal...so if any settings CANNOT be changed as you say, you will need to reinstall. Probably best to do a Windows uninstall before the reinstall also. Realize it is the Windows dialog box that is asking you to report the crash to Microsoft...nothing to do with COne....so you are correct, the solution will not be found that way.
You might want to post your actual operating system, and as 4.8.1 has been the current version for quite a while...I'm wondering about the reference to 4.78 as the latest download?0 -
Just in case it is something simple, what is the logical Drive of your CD ROM?

Could be a .net problem - read the last couple of posts in this thread (posts 38 & 39 on page 3)
