Show number of photos in smart album
I might be missing something obvious, but is it possible to show the number of photos there is in a smart album like it's shown for normal albums? I spent the longest time thinking my filters wasn't working and that my smart albums was coming up empty... :)
Thanks,
Toby

Not possible yet, would be a nice feature though. 0 -

A smart album can be updated constantly.
To be able to display a number instantly would required either constantly recalculation al of the smart albums or adding a count to the register and updating software to maintain the count. (Assuming this is not already done in the background).
Not impossible but it's all overhead and potentially quite resource intensive for anyone with a large number of Smart Albums.
Once you get used to the way it all works does knowing the connected number, second by second, of all your smart albums really really appear so important?
If it does, Create a Support Case with "Enhancement Request:..." in the title.
Phase will measure levels of interest and assess the degree of interest in such an idea from that input.
HTH.

The performance overhead of maintaining a count for a smart album should be negligible. The core operation is a signed integer add and subtract, which on any recent architecture has 1 CPU cycle latency. The actual updating of the albums are presumably done on a separate thread (with, say, a 10 Hz update frequency), so the CPU cost on the critical path will be minimal.
The main issue you should ever experience is if you have lots of smart albums (1000+) the counter in GUI might not be updated instantaneously.[quote="SFA" wrote:

For me personally seeing a count is more important than having the albums appear to be empty.

I support the request, it would be very useful to see a smart album item counter, even if it causes some tiny performance overhead. A compromise could be to update the counter when the program starts, when a smart album is created, and then only when the smart album is clicked.

Im am absolutely missing this feature as I am using Smart Albums to structure my workflow (e.g. "unrated", "Missing GEO Tags") and I would like to see the number of pics right behind the name of the smart album
