C1 7.01, Windows 8, global filter crash or not filtering

I'm not using OpenCL. I have View/Global Filters/Always hide JPG checked, but these files are not filtered out and the "Filtered" word is not showing on the title bar of the thumbnail pane. If I try to uncheck it, it either crashes or makes no difference. Anyone else here have this trouble? Is C1 not compatible with Windows

  I forgot to mention that I have the latest Nvidia drivers.
