For information regarding raw file support you can always rely on the release notes you can download from the same page as the software.

The EOS 7D raw file is supported in CO 5.0 already (tethering will follow later I assume). The correct profile is already in the software; you don't need to install any profiles. Don't expect any additional camera support in legacy software (i.e. CO4 or older).

Is there an official position from Phase One somewhere on support in version 4 for the 7D?

I bought my 7D before the release of C1 version 5, fully expecting it to be supported at some point in the near future. I would be very disappointed if I have to upgrade to get support for my new camera, especially if you consider that a) the upgrade price is quite steep (only 25% off the full product price) and b) I bought Capture One 4 only 7 months ago.

Tim, I do not know whether a non-official statement makes any sense to you (for an official statement open a support case) but there will be no new developments re. CO4 after release of CO5. So far nothing new in the world of software. Working in raw and using 3rd party software has always the chance of a happy or unhappy sync of events (new camera, new software). Sometimes you are lucky and get an update free, sometimes not and you need a paid upgrade. That's called progress.
I hope you can get over your disappointment one day because if you liked CO4, you will love CO5 IMHO.

Thanks for the answers. I have opened a support case. I'll let you know how it goes.
