Maybe your friends run CO 4.8.2 on Windows?

Edit: I just got some Leica M9 DNG files from the Net. They open in both CO 4.8.2 PRO Win & Mac with the DNG File Neutral profile selected by default. I expect some properly tuned profiles to surface in an upcoming update.

I download M9 DNG from Net too.
But I could not open in CO4 .8.2 on Mac. There is no preview thumbnail shown.
PS with camera raw opens M9 .DNG without problem.

The Leica M9 can store DNG files either compressed or uncompressed, with file size of approx. 17 and 34 MB respectively. From my initial findings, CO4.x can open the uncompressed M9 files only, were ACR (or Photoshop, Bridge or Lightroom) can open both. This should explain the mixed results reported here and on the Leica M9 user forum.

You may run into smaller M9 DNG files (7-9 MB range) as well. These are files with a lossless compressed preview, done with ACR (or Photoshop, Bridge or Lightroom) or perhaps another tool. As far as I can see now, these can be opened in CO4.x as well as long as the DNG raw part is not compressed.

The problem with the DNG standard is that it has one face on the outside but many variations internally, which are not all supported in CO4.

Thanks Paul for your quick reply.
    I don't LR quality with M8. So I won't get M9 until CO fully support M9.
Do you have any idea when CO will support M9 compressed .DNG?

    Kitty,
Official Leica M9 support in CO 4 will be released in 4.8.3 any moment now (see thread on Panasonic G1, last post by Ulf) but I have no information re. compressed DNG support.

CO 4.8.3 just released; supports Leica M9 DNG. First impression is both compressed and non-compressed M9 files are supported. DNG files that already received an ACR treatment will be opened with the DNG File Neutral profile, which is not as good as the M9 profile (obviously). Assign the M9 profile manually.

Thanks for super quick reply Paul.
Just DL CO 4.8.3. It works with M9!!
With the file I prefer contrast in CO than LR.
Noise CO may look more than LR but I like it.
Sharp noise look much like grain.
