I've been seeing the same thing. At least half the time I need to use task manager to close C1. Other times it just disappears from the screen leaving the process running. I'm running on Windows 7

I am having the same problem with the newly installed Pro 8 ( needed to close problem under Task Manager), my computer runs Window 7 (no such problem with Pro 7 which has been uninstalled), otherwise very pleased with this new version, Can anyone help or need a fix on it.

This is a common problem with CO7 and now CO8. Every time I couldn't launch CO, I always checked the Task Manager and had to kill the PID in order to restart CO.

    Hi Bob,
I did have the same effect, sometimes followed - if CO8 launched - with crashes on simple interactions (e.g. clicking on File -> Open).

The Solution was to end C08 by Menu, and to wait. Wait for quite a long time (around 1 hour - I was at lunch) until the procecsses disappear on their own (do not kill them!). Since then I did not have the issue again.

My assumption is, the CO did anything (thumbnails ? Sync of sidecar-files ? Re-index cache content ?) which is taking many resources. Once it is finished, I had no issues anymore.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with this problem, and thanks for the advice.

I have reported this behavior to Support.

I had this problem as well when I first started a new catalog and a new session.
However, it went away after a day and after I just let CO8 sit active for a while. It must have been doing something in the background to make itself at home on my pc.

Support cases would be of help to identify this.
It seems to be system specific so perhaps the users with this share a common hardware or software that is working outside of standard expectations.

could not restart after closing the program
    had to re-boot
also I have found CO8 does not hold my ratings or color tags on files
this happened also with CO7, but not as consistently
    hope they fix this soon

Best way to ensure that is to create a support case.

I will file a report but just chiming in that this is happening to me too. If CO is doing something, it isn't doing it efficiently as it shows absolutely no activity in task manager. If anyone gets a fix from support let's share it here for folks googling a solution. Really liking many things about the software, let's hope this gets fixed.

Same problem with my Windows 7/64. Such behavior is not acceptable! I opend a support-ticket today... 🤬

I had an acknowledgment immediately after opening a support ticket. No word since then. Hopefully, there are enough folks reporting the problem to get the attention of the CO engineers.

I became an answer today from supportstaff:
    Hi - thanks for wriitng.

What you refere to is not a bug but Capture One closing down it's processes. It's not a bug and it's a result of the installation or your OS causing this. We will however later to day release a service release of Capture One 8 - we kindly ask you to install this and before you start to use it - we kindly ask you to uninstall and remove all earlier Capture One versions following this guide:
    http://www.phaseone.com/Search/Article. ... nguageid=1

Thanks for using Capture One and sorry for the trouble
    Phase One

I deleted my elder CO7.x version and CO8 ist still running after closing down..... so what now??
