Rename a Folder in a Catalog

    Hi Frank,

As far as I understand the Rename a folder feature is active in Sessions only at the moment, not in Catalog.

I assume you have a disk folder in the Folders section of the Catalog. Moving images to a new folder and delete the old folder from the Catalog seems to be the workaround. Note that deleting a folder from the Catalog leaves it still on disk. It is only removed from the Catalog.

    Hi Paul,

thanks for the confirmation, I just wondered if I don't understand something right.

    I can't rename a folder?

    Really?

I mean this really another strike against the horribly useless C1 catalog.

Who has ever heard that you can't change a name in a database.

Phase One, do us a favor: remove the catalog (which is a hurdle, not a feature) or give us a catalog that works.

Phase One, you just added three unnecessary steps to my workflow.

    1. Delete folder from catalog (as I couldn't choose a name besides date on import)

    2. Change folder name in OS X.

    3. Re-import.

This boils down to never using C1 for importing again

I'll continue importing with DPP, including all name settings, and then put it into this useless catalog (otherwise I couldn't process the images).

I hope the catalog is going away soon.

This is how I do it in Windows:

Right Click on the Folder name in the C1 Library

    Select "Show in Explorer"

    Rename in Explorer

Right Click on folder in Library

    Select "Locate"

    Navigate to Renamed Folder

    Click OK

    Are you using C1 Express?

If not you don't have to use the catalog feature.
