76 copies of catalog in Finder
I've mentioned this issue in a previous thread. I am posting it again because I think the issue need to be addressed before it leads to serious problems. For some reason my catalog is listed 76 times in the Finder, all with different dates. It is also listed in various places - my internal HD, my two external hard drives (referenced images and backup) and my external backup for the computer. I am obviously doing something very wrong, and would really appreciate help on this one. Thanks, jp

Jay,
If you haven't already, go ahead and submit a support request with the Phase team just to expedite things a bit.
My initial guesses are that you've got a backup system active (such as Time Machine or another cloner app) that's spreading things around, but also you may have something wacky going on with the Finder's index settings.
To be completely honest, it doesn't sound as though your problem is with Capture One, but rather your backup workflow, and perhaps you even have some Automator tasks tied to certain folders that are causing some issues here. Regardless, we definitely need some more details before anyone will be of much help.
Good luck!0 -
Thanks Brian. I think you're right about the backup issue. I do have Time Machine backing up to an external HD. I have carbon copy cloner backing up my internal HD and also backing up my referenced images on one external HD to another. I will initiate a support request. I'm also adding a screen shot just to see if I have mastered the technique Paul explained to me on how to get a screen grab into a thread. Is it possible to let me know if it works? Thanks, jp

First - Screenshot - You're close, but not quite. If you were hosting the screenshot on a regular file server, then the way you did it would be correct. Unfortunately with Flickr it's a little different. You can't grab the URL of the file from the address bar on your web browser. You actually need to get the file path that includes the filename (ie. screenshot.jpg).
The fastest way to do that with Flickr is to go to the photo's page. Click "actions" and then click "view all sizes". Then you'll see a bunch of links to different resolutions of the image. Right click on the size you want and copy the link address. Then use THAT url to embed in to the forum.
It seems like a lot of steps, but it's not that crazy once you get it. Otherwise, use a different sharing service than flickr (http://imgur.com/ or your own ftp server).
A little out of scope for the C1 forums, but hopefully that helps.
Time Machine. I have to be honest, I always recommend against Time Machine. It has a tendency to just sort of do it's own thing. I fully understand the appeal of a fully automated backup system, but that comes with it's own issues - specifically that the backup software is doing all the thinking and can have a mind of its own. In Time Machine's case it also means that it can delete older copies of files just to have enough space, on top of the fact that situations where yours pop up in which you have multiple copies of a file when you really don't need multiple copies of a file.0 -
Looks like your Mac needs some attention.
Most likely the "copies" are saved with each incremental save for the software when you're using it. These incremental saves should overwrite the original Catalog but if that action isn't allowed by your system, which is very rare, the results are what you see.
Unfortunately it's not something that we can account for, as again it's due to a system error. A Permissions Repair through Disk Utility may be the fix for you, or perhaps it's something deeper that Apple can help you address.0 -
Thank you very much Drew. I appreciate your detailed response. I think I've followed your instructions correctly. Does the attached work? Cheers, jp
