Importing, Can't Select Aperture, Greyed Out
Well, I'm trying to be a new user, but I can't get past the first step!
I tried to import from Aperture but I can't select it. Aperture is greyed out. Any suggestions?

Importing an Aperture Library (File menu > Import Catalog > Aperture Library) is only available when you have opened a Capture One catalog. In case you have opened a session, this options is greyed out.
More information on importing catalogs/libraries can be found here:

In addition to Paul's observations - are you running a trial and are you running it as Capture One Pro (NOT one of the other options.)

Paul, I hadn't opened a catalog, but I just created one (called, imaginatively, "Import from Aperture") but Aperture is still greyed out. So is Photo, which I hadn't noticed before. I think my photos already migrated to Photo, so I should go there. But I still can't.
I also tried to import from a disk drive that I used to back up my previous computer, the one that actually had Aperture on it. All programs also greyed out there.
Any further guidance?
Grant, I am working from a trial version, but I was careful to choose Capture One Pro and not one of the Sony or Mamiya options.0 -
Could you share the steps you have undertaken so we could have a better grasp of what you are doing? We might be able to help you better. 0 -
I had the same problems.
I accidentally converted my Aperture Library to a Photos Library and couldn't Import it in CaptureOne.
I never got a solution for this.
But since I wanted to reorganize my Library anyway (iPhoto and Aperture really messed it up over the years), to have a referenced Library in future, it wasn't a big deal for me.0 -
Hello,
it´s quite simple.
When you convert your Aperture library to a Photos library it will be renamed.
To solve the problem please choose the Aperture in finder, go to the information (⌘+i), find the filename and change the extension from "migratedaplibrary" to "aplibrary".
After this you will be able to import the library to capture one as usual.

Excellent advice! 😄0 -
Changing the extension to aplibrary worked for me but I had to switch the library I wanted to import from Aperture's default library it opened with. Even though Aperture was closed Capture One kept saying the library was open. Thanks for the help
