Previews won't render after batch changes
Hi List
Well after a year or so of using Lightroom to process my Nikon D3x images I have returned to Phase, Capture v6.1.1
After a few days of testing many images I have been finding the quality of processed images consistently better with Capture 6, especially colours and sharpness if I work hard with the settings. Also shooting tethered is working very well, I found that Lightroom would drop my connection after a couple of hours.. Phase stays connected all day with no issues at all.
I have one issue that is frustrating, when I make changes to a number of images (select all and then apply settings in a batch), approx 20 - 30 images they won't render to a sharp preview, if I quit the app and re-launch this works but its a pain to have to do this every time..
I've checked and my graphics card is supported, I'm using Mac Pro's with plenty of ram, the graphic card is NVIDA GeForce 8800 GT
Can anyone help with this issue ?
Many thanks
Andy

Switch the OpenCL setting in Preferences for a test (Auto / Never). 0 -
Hello Paul
Well many thanks for your reply.
I just tried your test, I switched the OpenCL to Never and did an exact same test with a number of images and no problems at all, they render fine after the batch changes..
I guess this means that my graphics card is unable to deal with this amount of demand ?
I'll have a further play now but many thanks for the suggestion.
Should I upgrade to a better Graphics Card ?, I'm so impressed with Capture 6 I'd certainly invest in a new card if it improves the performance.
Thanks again

Hi Andy,
Your graphics adapter should be supported for OpenCL according to this list:
http://www.phaseone.com/en/search/artic ... nguageid=1
From other posts here I read from a Phase One staff member the an update can be expected shortly. This update might affect OpenCL performance among others. Try the update and if you're not happy contact Phase One support on what to expect and/or what your best (buying) options are.0 -
You don't say which OS you're running...but there was an Nivdia driver update last month for some versions...you might check the Nvidia site and update your Nvidia driver if you haven't...Open GL is gradually being expanded as drivers mature...and this release really helped output with an older card. Hope that helps... 0 -
Thanks for your help Paul, at least I have a very useable work around for now.
I have been testing Capture 6 over the past week alongside Lightroom on a large number of my raw files and I must say the image quality is very, very good.
Cheers

Hi John
I'm using OS 10.6.7.
I'll check for a Graphics card update now and certainly update if anything is available.
Thanks

Andrew, appears it's out of beta....your card is listed under supported

Hi John / Paul
I did a update to my graphics card today and the software is now working fine, I have been selecting many images and applying batch changes and they render fine, no issues at all..
It might be imagination but the changes I make now even on single images seem to be much quicker than before, I am aware that Capture One along with Photoshop are now using the graphics card more for better performance..
Thanks for all your help
Cheers
