I use Image Capture and then can import to a designated folder. That folder could then be the 'Capture' folder but not great to put more than 400 images in one capture folder

    How big are the files?

Is this a Mac thing? I have read a number of references to having few files in a folder but as a Windows user I frequently have around 2000 images in a folder - around 30Gb perhaps in my case - without experiencing any evident problems. The apparent discrepancy puzzles me.

NOO... https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201711 says more than 2billion

The whole C1P looks like immature SW. On one hand - it's supa-dupa excellent when we are speaking about picture quality and adjusting.. on the other hand - they don't know how to store files - the Session/Catalog and not being able to import files from iPhone and other devices - shame (well the problems with recognition camera when opening C1P). The usability limp - gorgeous Tethering, crappy Pilot app ☹️ I know, I know - it's hard to satisfy 100% of users, but is quite easy to copy from competitors - hey no one complain yet about stitching pics via Photoshop crap? - And NO automatic process for storing stitched picture back in C1P? I DON'T BELIEVE !! 😉
    That's a BIIIGGG fail..
Adobe is prohibited here so it looks like C1P is no option for me.
I still have some more days in trial, but it looks like C1P won't be my next processor...
