    This works, but shouldn't I be able to use the tools from the quick tab in the same way as well? It worked in previous version of C1.

    You can use the tools that work with layers from anywhere as long as you can tell C1 to use the selected layer. If the tool is available for layers than the small down arrow on the right of the tool's menu bar allows you to set it to use for "Adjust Selected Layer". This is pre-selected, where it applies, in the Local Adjustment layers Tab.

    Interestingly one thing that has been enabled by this slight change in approach Is to have 2 instances of the tool on screen at the same time so both the background and the selected layer could have for example, Their own Exposure tools visible concurrently. Or Clarity, or Colour Editor, etc.

    I don't think that was possible with V6 - but then I guess I never really thought about trying it.

    CO7 is indeed different from CO6 in this respect. Tools that can work in layers can be either layer aware or not. Tools that can not work in layers now always work (no need to select background layer first). More here:
