Brush / Opacity
I am having a hard time using the brush when creating a mask. If I set the opacity to anything less than 100, when I lift the brush and then place it again if I go over any area that was previously masked the mask gets darker. Is there anyway to have the opacity remain the same?
Does this post even make sense?
Thanks,

Yes, it makes perfect sense. And yes I have had the same issue.
My way around it is to draw an outline of the area I need to fill, then click "Fill Mask" in the local adjustments options.0 -
Thanks Jimmy! I'd missed that mask option. 0 -
The variable opacity is a benefit when dodging and burning - old school style - but trickier if you really just want consistent opacity less then 100% throughout the masked area.
Jimmy's option is good.
Alternatively you could draw the mask at 100% opacity for consistency then change to erase mode, make the brush very large compared to the mask area, reduce the opacity to leave what you wanted originally (more or less) and apply the change with a single sweep/touch. It would probably require a little experimentation to properly understand what the erase opacity should be set to if you have your heart set on a particular opacity value to apply.

Thanks. I'll try the suggestions. I need to go look, but I don't think I have this problem with PS.
I PShop uses less and less.. in fact now I use PS mostly for Silver FX and stitching.. looking forward to the day that I can drop CS altogether.0
