version 8 wont open any of my phase or mamiya files
I've been away from capture one for some time as Lightroom has better DAM features etc etc...
Anyway having read the blurb on the 'new' version 8 I thought 'why not?' I'll give it a spin...
after installing the trial, I selected DB option and guess what...
It won't open a MEF file (mamiya) or a MEF or a TIF converted to DNG..... Nice that....
So before I waste weeks of my life or hundreds of my dollars can anyone tell me why it wont recognise older files particularly from a P25/P45 or any DNG's at all converted from the following cameras:
Mamiya ZD
Fuji S5Pro
Nikon D800E
Nikon D810
I would hazard a guess that although I 'own' two Phase One backs that are now of course long in the tooth I would have to either buy a new back or buy the software to open the files.... Also that I would have to go back to original RAW tiffs and do a 'mass conversion' to DNG via version 8 for it ever to work with them....
Moderators I hope this question is simple enough and doesn't annoy you but if moving back to CApture One is going to be difficult, lengthy and expensive... I'd rather Know now if I can...
Many thanks in advance
Steve

I think in DB mode it would only open Digital Backs files, so your S5Pro, D800E, and D810 would be out in terms of editing or opening. Not sure it will open DNG files, the DB mode is the free version for their cameras only.
Did you check the release notes, to see if the ZD was supported anymore. It is possible that Converting the ZD files to DNG then opening them with the PRO version, might work. I know that was I had to use an old Veleo 22wi back, covert the MOS files to DNG then they would open. (That was back in the CO6 & CO7 days, have not tried sense.)
Looking at the ICC Profiles, they still have a Mamiya ZD generic profile, but what that means I cannot say.
I would say, try your test in "Pro" mode, and that should get the D800e/D810 going, not sure about the S5Pro
